Beaver Creek Community Hall Inc.

The mission of the Beaver Creek Community Hall (BCCH) is to operate a community hall on a nonprofit basis at the former Beaver Creek school house site for the benefit of the community. Preserving the building and its historical significance is also important.

The BCCH was formally recognized as a Montana nonprofit in 1975 and continues to connect community in the rural area of Park County located off Swingley Road. This area has never had a school bus route, nor a mail route. However, it has always had a community hall to connect community. The need to connect community in rural Park County is acute. The community hall has served that purpose since 1903.

The hall was originally a one room school house built in 1903. The school burnt to the ground in 1942 but was rebuilt in 1943. It stopped operations as a school in 1959 but has remained an important part of community since that time. A Home Demonstration Club operated from the BCCH starting in 1951. Also, in previous years, there was an active Farm Bureau chapter and 4H club. The community hall has also served as a polling place. It serves as a location for other functions including funeral dinners, weddings, anniversary parties and dances. The community recently hosted two candidate forums for county commissioner candidates.

BCCH hosts a monthly potluck at the hall and a weekly quilting/stitching/crafting group. The public is always invited to attend.

Our current Secretary/Treasurer (Anne Nichting) and her husband can attest to the importance of BCCH to connect newcomers to community. They moved here in March of 2020 and life in rural Park County would not be the same without the community hall.

The weekend dances held in the past are legendary. Ask any long time local, e.g., Bryan Wells.

The yearly quilt raffle is also legendary. The artistry and workmanship of the Beaver Creek quilts is known throughout Park County.

Our two forums for county commissioner candidates were well attended and received news coverage in the local papers.
