Belmont’s New Destiny

A nonprofit organization

$3,345 raised by 19 donors

100% complete

$1,000 Goal

The New Destiny was created when our director saw a need in our community. Currently Richland County has had 68 drug overdoses resulting in death in 2018 alone. Everyone is always concerned for the addict themselves, but who worries about the children growing up in this environment? We do!

Many of our volunteers have faced the same circumstances, therefore we know the physical and emotional heartache that these children are up against. It is our job to be the strong and influential role-models in their lives. On Thursday nights we open our doors to these children. On a typical Thursday we provide a family style dinner, we help them with their homework and guide them in prayer. Some weeks we do crafts, go on field trips, or just hang out and play games. We give them a safe place, we are the people they come to when they are struggling.

Our program depends on people like you and your company to keep our doors open. How can you help? You can help in a couple of different ways., one being financial donations. The money provided goes to pay for our meals, field trips, crafts and anything extra a child might need (shoes, coats, etc…) We also seek non-perishable food items because we are currently supplying multiple families with food filled book bags. These book bags are packed with enough food to be at least three hearty meals. We are in need of things such as single chef boyardee cans, canned fruits and veggies, macaroni and cheese, oatmeal packets, etc…

The National Institute on Drug Abuse estimates 25% of children in the U.S. grow up in households where substance abuse is present. With your help we can break these chains of addiction and change their lives for the better!  We would like to thank you for your time and consideration in advance!
