As a high-touch versus high-tech helper for distressed homeowners in Dallas County, Beloved's stays the course in serving LMI families by focusing on execution, i.e. that each client, individual, etc. walks away with hope.
In fact, the primary populations served by Beloved reflect the highest-need communities comprised of socio-economically disadvantaged families, including LMI individuals. All of Beloved's outreach and services stem from our community engagement expertise evidenced by our returning clients as well as their referrals, i.e., new clients.
Focused on our mission, Beloved continually seeks clients who either match OR surpass our own dedication to dismantling structural factors and systems that hinder complete equality such as racial injustice, generational poverty, homophobia, etc. Beloved has produced winning grant proposals for agencies that specialize in strengthening low-to-moderate income (LMI) families. Primarily focused on the economic problems that compromise LMI household stability, Beloved has won hundreds of thousands of dollars for grant-funded projects targeting single parent households, justice-impacted households, and households that receive various forms of public assistance. Beloved also has provided project management for and evaluation of such projects. Since the onset of the pandemic, Beloved has been providing family/student support for early childhood providers, especially parent access to resources dedicated to helping their children become school ready.
In response to devastating impacts of Covid-19, Beloved also assisted Black business owners across Dallas County with submitting Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) forgivable loan applications at no charge. Presently, Beloved continues to support the amelioration of Covid's negative impacts with our current focus on Texas homeowners as we complete our one-year, $415,974 contract secured from the State of Texas to provide technical assistance with submitting applications to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) for financial assistance.
At the same time, Beloved has been continually evaluating data from all of our Covid relief efforts. The consistent feedback from homeowners, in particular, have shown that there are untapped financial resources within LMI communities. Responding to those gaps, Beloved is preparing to launch newly developed, innovative programs that build the capacity of existing entities within LMI communities like homeowner associations and faith-based organizations in order to shift dependency from public assistance.
