On April 27, 2011, Birmingham Regional Empowerment and Development Center (BREAD) was forever changed.  BREAD was housed in Bethel Baptist Church, Pratt City, which was destroyed during the storms.  Despite losing are facility and all of our resources, we immediately reorganized and continued to serve our students in temporary locations.

BREAD Center has continued to serve the Pratt City community along with the North Birmingham, Forestdale, and Adamsville neighborhoods through after school enrichment, spring and summer camps, and adult education programs.

Our enrichment program, STEPS (Striving to Equip and Prepare) serves over 100 students daily with school work assistance, arts and crafts, physical activity, nutrition, character education, and service learning.  Students who utilize our program see drastic improvements in grades and character!

Our adult education program, STAGES (Stregthening & Training Adults for Growth, Empowerment & Success) focuses on helping adults pass the GED Examination, while learning job skills, computer skills, and financial literacy.

BREAD Center truly believes that helping families, helps to shape communities.
