Bethlehem Haven of Pittsburgh

A nonprofit organization

Bethlehem Haven's mission is to provide a continuum of care that leads to self-sufficiency for women and gender-nonconforming people experiencing homelessness. As part of Pittsburgh Mercy's Family of Care, we're dedicated to cultivating a community of healing and growth, where persons-served can feel safe, supported, and empowered on their life journeys.

Everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home, along with the building blocks to help them heal and grow. Yet too many women and gender-diverse individuals in our community live in unsafe, unhealthy, or unstable situations.

For more than 40 years, Bethlehem Haven has offered more than shelter. We have helped thousands of women across Western Pennsylvania access health insurance, secure employment and housing, and connect to compassionate medical and behavioral health services. This life-changing work is only possible because of the generosity of you and the greater Pittsburgh community.

Testimonials

"Because I wasn't worried about when I could get my next meal or take my next shower, I was able to work on myself... Being inside and not on the streets made all the difference."-Autumn, former emergency shelter guest

"I'm so grateful for everything we're able to get through [Bethlehem Haven]," from help navigating section 8 housing and employment assistance to applying for food stamps and Medicaid.-Sacha, former emergency shelter guest

"I'm a comeback lady. Despite the devastation I've had with the stroke, the blindness, the brain injury, and diabetes, I believe I'm at Bethlehem Haven for a special reason. It's very inspirational to me."-Juliah, former medical respite guest
