Better Together Animal Alliance works to keep people and pets together.

Based in Ponderay, Idaho, Better Together Animal Alliance serves Bonner, Boundary, and Kootenai Counties with a simple goal: helping to keep people and pets together. 

Much of our work happens beyond the walls of our Animal Care Center. Through community-based programs and services, we meet pet owners where they are - without shame or judgment - and provide practical support that helps pets stay in their loving homes.

Our programs include our Pet Food Bank, Helpline, Pets for Life, Temporary Loving Care, Lovingly Letting Go, and Trap-Neuter-Return services for community cats. Thousands of pets benefit from these programs every year, and only a small portion ever need to enter our Animal Care Center.

When an animal does need a safe place to stay, our Animal Care Center provides a comfortable, enriching environment while they wait for their next home. Cats enjoy a spacious, stimulating cat haven, while dogs get regular opportunities to walk, play, socialize, and spend time outside of their kennels.

We believe sheltering is only one part of animal welfare. By helping people before they reach a crisis point, we can solve problems earlier, keep families together, and make a lasting difference for both people and pets.

Better Together Animal Alliance is also the founder of Home To Home, an online pet rehoming platform that helps pets move directly from one home to another without entering a shelter. Home To Home is now used in more than 170 shelters nationwide and helps tens of thousands of animals each year. Learn more at home-home.org.
