We believe in the power of the people of Haiti to end child slavery and prevent violence against women & girls. By training people to defend the rights of children and promote balanced power between women and men, we are accompanying Haitians as they change their country for the better.
Haiti faces many challenges, many of them so complex and large that no amount of foreign aid will make a lasting change. Real change is needed from the bottom up, for social movements led by those who have the most at stake to take hold and grow.
We are guided by the Haitian proverb, “Wòch nan dlo pa konn mizè wòch nan solèy,” which means, “The rock in the water doesn’t understand the misery of the rock in the sun.” We believe that Haitians are best equipped to bring about lasting social change. Instead of trying to do it for them, our goal is to equip them with the tools they need to succeed.
We've been working in Haiti since 1993 and are committed to financial transparency. 2013 is the 9th consecutive year we've been named a 4-Star Charity by Charity Navigator.
