Beyond Fistula

  We started this organization in order to help women and girls who have recently undergone surgical repair for obstetric fistulas return to school or receive vocational skills training.  ​​

             We currently have two programs:

 1. Scholarship Fund- funding girls to return to Primary or Secondary School.  Our scholarship is currently funding 3 girls to attend boarding school in Eldoret, Kenya.

2. Stepping Forward Program - a vocational training program to teach skills to Fistula Survivors in order to help them gain marketable skills in hopes of becoming financially independent or at least more financially stable.

          All of the girls in our program have been operated on by Dr. Mabeya at the Moi Referral Hospital and the GYNOCARE Fistula Center in Eldoret, Kenya.

Our organization is small and personal and can use your support!   This organization was started by Dr. Debra Matityahu and her daughter Arielle.  After visiting Eldoret, Kenya in November of 2010, and working in the hospital with Dr. Mabeya, we were inspired to help these girls and women gain independence. 

Arielle, one of our founders, is currently an 8th grade student in Los Altos, CA.​
