Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos has provided life-changing programs and opportunities to local youth since 1979, connecting them with the tools and resources they need to build Great Futures. Aiming to promote the wellness, health, and success of San Marcos kids and teens, BGCSM is driven by its mission to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. BGCSM serves a diverse community of more than 2,000 members, ages 6 to 18, each year at two standalone Clubhouses, seven school-based sites, and two affordable housing communities. At the Club, kids can have fun and be themselves while participating in a range of over 20 programs that emphasize three priority outcome areas: Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.

| The Healthy Lifestyles Program teaches our Club members about the importance of nutrition and helps them make mindful decisions about food. As a part of Food & Wellness Specialty Clubs, kids take part in fun learning experiences such as planting vegetables in a garden, preparing healthy snacks, and tasting new foods! The specialty clubs Healthy Habits and Mindful Munchies contribute to the education towards nutritional eating. Healthy Habits include learning to cook in the kitchen, and Club members learn how their food affects their health during Mindful Munchies. |
With support from generous businesses, families, and community supporters, BGCSM aims to match 70 families with gifts during the upcoming holiday season. Boys & Girls Club members and their families are nominated in October to be part of the Adopt-a-Family program. In November, generous donors team up with family, friends, neighbors, or co-workers to brighten a family’s holidays! In December, donors drop off their gifts at the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos main branch. BGCSM staff arrange for families to receive their gifts and take them home to put under their family’s tree! |
