“Nobody’s ever given me something like this before.” “Oh, thank you so much. I’ll keep it in my unit and read it in my down time.” “This is awesome. I didn’t think they had a Bible just for cops. I love it!”

These are just some of the responses I’ve heard.

It all started with an idea. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to provide a Bible geared primarily for those who Protect and Serve? And by the way… we could use your help. More on that in a moment. It was an idea I had while sitting in an awards banquet last summer in Columbia, SC. I had to do something about this when I got home.

An Idea Turns into Action

A couple of weeks later I pitched the idea to our church leadership. What if we could put a Law Enforcement Officer’s Bible into the hands of every new officer in our five parish area? Our local sheriff’s office operates a regional academy for every municipal and parish officer and deputy in the surrounding five parishes.The typical questions came up. When? How much will it cost? Will they let us do it? It didn’t take long for the enthusiasm to grow. Before we were done, the questions turned to “How can we make this happen?” and “How soon can we start?”

Now, three academy classes later, we’ve given over one hundred Bibles as graduation gifts.

An Opportunity to Make a Difference

But I have a bigger goal. A dream you might call it. It’s a desire to provide one of these Bibles to every Law Enforcement Officer in our area. That’s around 2,000 officers. Here’s where you come in. With imprinting and wrapping we could provide each officer and deputy with a personalized copy of this Bible for $25 per officer. That’s a goal of $50,000. Let’s make it happen!
