OUR HISTORY

Originally opened in 1989, Bindlestiff Studio became the only permanent, community-based performing arts venue in the nation dedicated to showcasing emerging Filipino American and Pilipino artists. Bindlestiff Studio provides the often under-served Filipino American community access to diverse offerings in theatrical productions, music and film festivals, workshops in directing, production, acting, stand-up comedy, and writing, as well as arts education programs for seniors and youth.

OUR MISSION
Bindlestiff Studio cultivates artists who reflect and celebrate the diverse values, traditions, and histories of Pilipino and Filipino American cultures through bold artistic expression and community engagement.

OUR EFFORTS

During this time of crisis, Bindlestiff has been nourishing the body and soul with direct services to vulnerable seniors/families and arts programming for everyone. Since the start of the pandemic we've been partnering with neighborhood service orgs (WestBay, United Playaz, Bayanihan Equity Center, and SOMCAN) to distribute food to seniors and families in need. We also initiated an Artist Relief Fund that provides unrestricted mini-grants to artists in need. Now - with the rise of anti-Asian violence, particularly directed at seniors - we are launching a Senior Safety Buddy Program to help protect and reassure our community members.
