Birth Care and Family Health Services

Birth Care began in 1978 and has provided the Lancaster community with over 40 years of midwifery care, providing women’s health care, and birthing services at our birth center, at home, and at a hospital. Birth Care needs your support now more than ever. Our team of midwives continues to provide the full scope of care for low risk childbearing women from the first prenatal appointment through postpartum care as well as gynecological care. With Birth Care, our team gives the mother-to-be more options for the birth experience they want with an out of hospital birth and a higher chance of a vaginal birth. We work to empower women to take charge of their own health at all stages of life. The last couple years have meant our largest fundraiser, a Benefit Auction, has not happened, which makes your gift of support is all the more vital in allowing us to our work by helping us provide for our patients, subsidize care for families in need, and to help keep care affordable for the whole community.

Who We Are

At Birth Care, it’s all about you. Our team of highly educated, licensed certified nurse-midwives give you information and make recommendations, but it is you who makes choices for yourself and your baby. Try a water birth for excellent pain management without medications. Labor in your own clothes, in any position you wish. Snack in labor, or go outside for a walk. You have options here.
