Black Hills Center for Equality, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

Black Hills Center for Equality, Inc. was formed in August of 2008 to meet the needs for a frontier LGBTQA community. We wish to thank the groups of people who helped blaze the trail for us to follow. We are a dynamic group of individuals striving for acceptance and equality for all people in this great nation.

Our mission is to provide support, connections and advocacy to the GLBT community and beyond.  We currently serve the western half of South Dakota. South Dakota has a population base of approx. 900,000.

We offer programs to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of our community. These programs are funded solely through private donations and small grants.

Our current programs include  suicide prevention and crisis intervention, referrals to other CBO's to meet the needs of our clients not provided by us,  Referrals for HIV Testing and support and active participation in state wide prevention planning for HIV and STI's.

We also offer education and awareness programs to the community.

We offer referrals for transgender individuals seeking services and have an active Trans support group as well as manage our Terri Bruce Memorial Fund, which directly supports transgender individuals, particularly youth.

Black Hills Pride is  celebrated each year usually in the months of June or July.  Black Hills Pride for 2021 is July 10th and will be in person this  year with the theme of 'Together Again!

Pride, we 're on it!
