Young, Gifted & Green

Young, Gifted & Green is a civil rights & environmental justice organization that influences policy change through political advocacy, mentorship, and training. Our roots began in 2015 as a programming initiative to support the residents of Flint, MI within Thursday Network – Greater Washington Urban League Professionals. We officially grew into a movement February 10, 2016, and we have since expanded our mission and policy work nationally with programming in Maryland, Michigan, Tennessee & Washington, DC. For nearly a decade, we have advocated for youth and young adult voices to be center in environmental and climate policy.

Our Four Point Action Plan guides the scope of our work:

1. Raise funds and cultivate resources to improve the quality of life of communities impacted by lead exposure and environmental injustice.

2. Advocate for the eradication of lead in air, consumer products, housing, soil, and water.

3. Educate & equip the general public with digestible information regarding lead, lead exposure.

4. Build coalitions with like-minded organizations.
