Black Pilots of America

A nonprofit organization

•To stimulate and encourage broader job opportunities for Blacks in all phases of aviation. •To encourage youth to enter the field of aviation and to remain in school by showing films and lecturing in schools on opportunities in the field of aviation. •To organize and set up a school for such training. •To develop scholarships for youth who will partake in such training and development.

The BPA Summer Flight Program is designed to introduce under represented youth into the world of flying. The program is designed to introduce 24 students to flying. This is done by providing them with 10 hours of flight instruction and 40 hours of ground school during the first 15 days of the program. For the past 30 years the Summer Flight Program has been limited to this curriculum.

Testimonials

Ever since I was young I have dreamed of flying an airplane, and now I know that my dream can become a reality. During the two week experience, I ascertained a great wealth of knowledge on every aspect of flight.
Andrew Burgdorf - Student.

It is amazing how you could take someone who knew nothing about flying an airplane like myself, and in two weeks have them knowing all of the basic principles, procedures and maneuvers of flight.
Kevin Dupree - Student

As an educator, I am very much impressed with the methods, substance, and results of your instruction. What your students learned and what they have done within a two-week period is remarkable.
Ava Taylor - Parent
