In 1999, Friends of Black Rock-High Rock was formed to preserve and promote appreciation of the historical, ecological, agricultural, recreational, and scenic resources of Northwest Nevada. Over the years, Friends of Black Rock-High Rock has been the conservation organization assisting with caring for the Black Rock Desert High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trail National Conservation Area.

In 2013, Friends of Black Rock-High Rock received the Friends Group of the Year Award by the Conservation Lands Foundation. This award was achieved due to the dedication, support, and hard work of staff, board members, volunteers, and members.

Friends of Black Rock-High Rock continue to be leaders, bringing innovative techniques for successful citizen science programs on public lands. Our promise to our donors is that we will continue to:

  • Protect critical habitat for wildlife
  • Educate the public about important issues facing the land
  • Develop and expand our citizen science monitoring programs using 21st century technologies.

You can help preserve this unique landscape for future generations.

Invest in the future of this National Conservation Area. Your donation makes a difference!
