Black Rock Solar provides low-cost, high-quality solar installations to other nonprofits; to public, low-income groups; and to tribes throughout Nevada. While grants cover much of the solar arrays' costs, often there is a substantial gap between funds provided and the actual costs of the arrays.

Your donation can help clean energy savings get to those organizations that can use them the most!

For example, in November 2013 we finished a 28-kW rooftop array for Friends in Service Helping (homeless services) in Carson City, Nev. While an NV Energy grant paid for much of the array, $15,000 more was needed beyond the grant dollars. Black Rock Solar held an online crowd-sourcing campaign and raised the money through our community. Now, thanks to its new solar array, Friends in Service Helping is saving more than $5,000 per year on its utility bills. That’s $5,000 that can go to helping people in need each year.

More and more in Nevada clean energy rebate dollars are being slashed, so Black Rock Solar and our nonprofit clients will continue to face these clean energy grant shortfalls. Black Rock Solar is committed to continuing its mission to get clean energy to those who can use the savings the most. Inevitably those organizations do not have the funds to cover the grant/array cost gap.

Success is simple to measure: kilowatts of solar installed and dollars saved by our worthy clients. Since its beginning at the 2007 Burning Man festival, Black Rock Solar has installed more than 4 MW of solar throughout Nevada, and its clients now save more than $550,000 combined on their utility bills each year.

Our nonprofit client organizations and the people they serve are directly impacted: “The electricity savings from this new array will translate directly into free medical equipment and supplies for people in need. This solar project was built by Black Rock Solar at no cost to our organization and will save thousands and thousands of dollars in overhead expenses during the next 25 years, enabling C*A*R*E* Chest to help hundreds more local families.” – Patti Meals, Executive Director of CARE Chest (providing free medical equipment and supplies for Northern Nevadans in need) (25kW array).
