Blake Terry Memorial Foundation

The Blake Terry Memorial Foundation (BTMF) is a non-profit organization that was formed as a search, rescue and recovery support foundation for missing divers.

The BTMF is a non-profit organization that was formed as a search; rescue and recovery support foundation for diver's who have the passion like Blake Terry. Blake was lost in the Gulf of Mexico, August 13, 2011. He was a veteran spear fisherman/diver with over 500 dives logged and reaching depths of 250 feet. The mission of this organization has three objectives - Search, Rescue and Recovery; Education; and Research and Development of both commercial and recreational diving.
Search, rescue and recovery take an experience team of divers as well as the latest technology available to perform such a task. The logistics efforts of building this type of team, tied into local authorities is based on volunteers. However, through the BTMF, organizing these teams will be possible to insure the best team is ready and prepared.
Education is a key focus to preventive measures in diving today. Our main goal is to bring awareness of safety precautions in diving as well as support to families who may have lost a loved one in a diving accident. The BT Memorial Foundation has already distributed over 500 copies of "Burning Daylight" a guide for divers and family members who need to be aware of the safety measures to be taken for recreational diving. Several fundraisers continue to support our mission, such as the Pirates of the Gulf Fishing Rodeo, and Pirates Rum Run 5K/Crawfish Cookoff. The BTMF has played an instrumental role in building Our Lady of the Gulf planned to be unveiled in the Fall of 2017 in Port Fourchon.
Currently the Organization has six executive members; four officers and 32+ board members located in four Gulf Coast states - Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas. With your support, we will continue to support our community. Thank you!
