Bloom Elementary is a vibrant learning community where creativity, curiosity, and connection thrive. The Bloom PTA helps make that possible by funding school events, educational enrichment opportunities, school improvements, and resources that support every student. What makes Bloom special is its deep connection to our neighborhood and the broader Louisville community. This commitment is reflected in the Bloom PTA initiatives, including the Bloom Arts Matrix, Outdoor Classroom, and school and community events. For more than 130 years, Bloom has been part of Louisville's story, and we honor that legacy by investing in our students while strengthening the relationships, local businesses, and community spaces that make our city thrive.
The Arts Matrix ensures that throughout their years at Bloom, every student experiences not only weekly art and music classes but also a range of immersive arts programs led by professional artists and arts organizations from our community. Students engage directly with practicing artists, explore multiple creative disciplines, and develop a lifelong appreciation for creative expression. By the time they graduate from Bloom, students have participated in a range of arts experiences.
Importantly, the Arts Matrix is a community investment. The artists, organizations, and businesses that partner with Bloom are often local, meaning the funds raised by the PTA are reinvested directly in our Louisville community.
The success of the Arts Matrix has always depended on the generosity of local businesses and community partners. The support of businesses throughout the Highlands, Germantown, and beyond has helped make these transformative opportunities possible for Bloom students, and we are grateful for their continued partnership in enriching children's lives through the arts.
One of the PTA's most exciting initiatives is the ongoing transformation of Bloom's Outdoor Classroom and Sensory Garden. After ten years of use, the Outdoor Classroom at Bloom was in major need of renovation. Our vision is to expand the garden into a welcoming, educational, and environmentally sustainable space that enhances both student learning and school safety.
Thanks to the generosity of Give for Good donors and community supporters last year, Phase 1 has transformed underutilized space into a professionally designed outdoor learning environment for Bloom Students. Students can now learn among native pollinator gardens, edible plants, and shade trees, creating inviting spaces for outdoor instruction. We also tripled the capacity of our bike racks, encouraging active transportation to school. You can learn about our progress at the Bloom Garden Project website.
We are now ready for Phase 2, which includes:
The Bloom PTA also funds educational enrichment opportunities that connect students with subject matter experts, specialized instructors, and community leaders. These experiences introduce students to new perspectives, career pathways, and hands-on learning opportunities that extend beyond the traditional classroom. These partnerships help cultivate curiosity and contribute to a well-rounded educational experience.
The PTA organizes and supports numerous school-wide events that bring families together and strengthen our school community. Events such as the Silent Disco, BloomFest, the Earth Day Bulldog Trifecta, and skate nights at Robben's Roost create meaningful opportunities for students and families to connect.
Every dollar invested in the Bloom PTA directly supports experiences that enrich the lives of Bloom students. By supporting Bloom, you're investing not only in students, but also in the local community that helps make Bloom such a special place to learn and grow. Together, we can continue to provide the extraordinary experiences that make Bloom Elementary a vibrant school community.
