COLLEGE CHANGES COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE!
WHO WE ARE:
The Blue Heart Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization founded in 2013. Blue Heart supports under-served African American male youth ages 13-18 in the greater San Diego County community. We offer a solid holistic mentoring program through adult and peer mentoring, that facilitates positive interactions, education, empowerment and emotional well being that is a critical part of their lives.
OUR MISSION:
Our Mission is building our community by providing an equitable and secure path to higher education, emotional health and character development for young African American males.
OUR PURPOSE:
With 90% of our student families are of low to moderate income it is critical that underserved male youth of color have the tools needed to thrive in today's Socio-economic climate. Now the question is: Is There A War on Education for Young Minorities?
We can’t answer that question completly but, what we DO know is that after the recent Supreme Court ruling, now more than ever we need to support education for our young men of color!
What we DO know is that we at Blue Heart focus on solutions! We are excited about our revamped College and Career Prep Academy which is providing young black males the tools they need to be successful in their academic and personal lives regardless of the obstacles that may be set before them!
The Blue Heart Foundation Academy encompasses a wide variety of elements: mentoring support, college prep and university teaching and learning processes, workforce success; public service to society; and the development of students' social skills, leadership, critical thinking skills, team building, goal setting, empathy, and commitment to civic engagement.
Help us continue the mission! Support our initiative to protect and prepare our young men of color for the right to higher education!
"I enrolled my son in The Blue Heart Foundation in his sophomore year of high school in hopes that the program would help him “come out of his shell”. Three years later, I can definitely say that the program has definitely done that! He has learned to be confident, assertive, self-reliant and a leader. He was able to participate in many community service events and college workshops which provided him with college prep and career path information. My son also participated in fun bonding events with his Blue Heart brothers which will be a foundation for life long friendships. He became inspired by the upperclassmen that went through the program before him and are now attending four year universities. The Blue Heart Foundation was definitely an enhancement to his high school career, and we are grateful for the opportunities that came along with his membership."
