Pursuing our mission to empower, organize, and equip Vietnamese individuals and communities in their pursuit of liberty and dignity, Boat People SOS-Bayou La Batre (BPSOS-BLB) formed in 2006 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, continues to respond to urgent and emerging needs of individuals and families in the aftermath of the recent oil spill. The success of our services -- spanning disaster relief and recovery; services to support the well-being of vulnerable seniors, youth, and women; mental and behavioral health services; translation, interpretation and navigation services; computer literacy classes , etc. -- has earned BPSOS-BLB a reputation as a local leader in direct services and advocacy.  While we focus on the disproportionately underserved population of Southeast Asians, we make our services available to all community members regardless of ethnic background.
