Books to the Rescue! was founded in 2014 in Ohio by an amazing woman named Jana. That summer, she sat in a Grand Jury listening to a case about a young boy who had not only witnessed domestic violence, but had bruises on his face from being victimized by it. This boy became the poster child for the program which is now in over 30 states. Books to the Rescue! collets monetary donations to buy books and stuffed animals, which are placed in duffle bags and donated to local police and fire stations. These items are used to distract and comfort children on the scene of emergencies so that the men and women in uniform can do their jobs and the child(ren) are not left alone worrying about all that can go wrong. March 2016 and the Love Utah, Give Utah event mark the beginning of the program here in Utah. You have the amazing opportunity to be one of the first supporters of this project that strives to make a child's worst day a little more bearable. 100% of donations go toward buying books, stuffed animals, and other supplies for the program. Even better, donations are matched through a 50% grant program called Literacy for a Lifetime, so every $100 dollars donated buys $150 worth of books. We are excited to be working with the Community Foundation of Utah, the Salt Lake City Police Department, and other first responder groups throughout both Salt Lake and Utah Counties. Your donation will make a HUGE difference in our local community. This is a true grass roots effort and ALL donations are used to support children here in Utah as well as create positive relationships between first responders (police, fire, EMT, etc...) and members of our community. Be a part of this great cause and give today!
