Boron Alive

Boron has been sliding into decay for the past decade, as the freeway bypassed us and as employees at the local mine began to come from further away.  Houses fell apart and were not renovated.  Half of the businesses closed--we now have no service station or pharmacy.

A Boronite who had left the town more than 50 years ago noticed.  He teamed up with a group of other veteran Boron residents to do something about it. 

In January 2015 we formed our non-profit and began backstopping the efforts that were already in motion--the Senior Center, the library, the Chamber of Commerce, and the free food distribution system.

At the same time we began looking for other, bigger ways that we can help the town.  We now have three initiatives that are on the hot front burner:  a center for young adults to frequent where they can find education and work options, added services for our seniors so their requests for help can be vetted, and a board-and-care so that our super-seniors can stay in Boron near their friends and neighbors as they approach their last years.

We're ambitious and we're hard working.  We're looking for grants and for collaborators to make our plans reality.

Our mission:  to increase the quality of life for all Boron residents.
