Since 1976, Boston Women’s Rugby Football Club (BWRFC) has taken strides to foster the spirit of rugby, both on and off the pitch. We are a diverse team that is dedicated to achieving the highest standards of competitive rugby. BWRFC is an integral part of Boston’s thriving cultural and athletic scene.

BWRFC is a Division 1 club and is a member of the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU), Northeast Rugby
Union (NRU) and USA Rugby. Competing for over 40 years, BWRFC has consistently ranked as one of the top rugby teams in the nation!

Currently, we have a roster of 40 players and an active alumni base who maintain a connection to the club with game attendance, community service events and
fundraising initiatives.  As strong members of the Boston  ommunity, the players and alumni in our club span a variety of professions including students, teachers, lawyers, EMT's, administrators, financial advisors, engineers, and scientists, to mention a few.

Highlights from 2015 and 2016:

  • We placed 2nd in 2015 and 1st in 2016 the Northeast Division 1 Club Women's standings.
  • We hosted a very successful holiday-themed Cape Cod 7s for the 30th year in Eastham! We welcomed men's teams to the event for the first time ever!
  • Our 7s team won the inaugural NERFU Summer Sevens Series and competed at the USA Rugby Club 7s Nationals  Tournament.
  • Five of our players were selected to be part of the Northeast 7s Olympic Development Academy and compete throughout the year against domestic and international competition at competitive 7s tournaments.
  • BWRFC celebrated it's 40th Anniversary as a club - welcoming back players from the original 1976 and celebrating the family that is Boston Women's Rugby.
  • This spring, BWRFC took the Championship Cups at both the Savannah St. Patrick's Day Tournament and Four Leafs 15s tournaments!

WHY ARE WE FUNDRAISING?

The cost of rugby and the cost of supporting our players continues to rise, and we're seeking ways to keep this game, this family that is BWRFC, accessible to all interested players. Maintaining a practice schedule that allows us to compete at a national level means that we must rent indoor space as well as outdoor space and do so for quite a long time. In the past 5 years, our field/court costs have increased 300%. And each year, including this year, we've spent more that the last just to have a space to practice. This increase in cost has meant that our club has worked hard to do more fundraisers just to supplement the cost of practice. And as you can tell from the highlights above - we're working hard to play the best rugby we can at the highest levels!

So, in addition to fundraisers, pub crawls, and sponsorship initiatives, we're turning to our active alumni base and friends and family and asking for your support. Your donation on this page will support our ability to pay for field space this year!

In 2013 we spent 2,583.00 on field space. We'd like YOUR help to support this necessity for our club. Please help us raise funds for field space - your support ensures that we can continue to maintain the backbone of our club: practicing together, so that we can continue to put BWRFC on the map as a highly competitive and well respected club.
