Since 1999, Breakthrough New York has empowered motivated students from low-income backgrounds across NYC to achieve college and career success. Our students are academically gifted yet often the furthest from opportunity. Through our tuition-free, ten-year program, we help them thrive from middle school through college graduation — providing academic enrichment, mentorship, and long-term support every step of the way.

Each year, Breakthrough New York serves more than 500 students across the city — and nearly a third come from Brooklyn, a borough that embodies the resilience and diversity that make Breakthrough students shine. Our scholars are future engineers, teachers, and change-makers, proving every day that with opportunity and support, potential knows no ZIP code.
