Breast Cancer Action

Breast Cancer Action is not your average breast cancer organization. We are fiercely independent and refuse corporate funding from any company that profits from or contributes to breast cancer. That means we can ALWAYS put women's health first. 

Radical and compassionate, we never shy away from the hard truths. We tell it like it is about breast cancer: 40,000 women die of this devastating disease every year, and we don't have nearly enough to show for the billions of dollars raised in the name of breast cancer. 

We were founded in 1990 by a handful of women living with - and dying from - breast cancer, who demanded answers about their disease. We continue to demand answers - and solutions - for women living with and at risk of breast cancer and those who love them. We are now a national grassroots organization over 60,000 strong. 

We are all swimming in a toxic soup of chemicals that harm our health, including increasing our risk of breast cancer. We work to eliminate the root causes of this disease so we can stop breast cancer before it starts.

We advocate for more effective, less toxic, and less expensive treatments so that fewer women die of this terrible disease. And we review research from a patient-centered position so that all women can be fully informed on the risks and benefits or screening, diagnosis and treatment options.

Through our award-winning Think Before You Pink® campaign, we confront the hypocrisy of pinkwashing corporations and encourage people to ask critical questions about where their pink ribbon donations are going.

We do all of this while refusing to accept funding from any corporation or organization that increases our risk of breast cancer or profits from the disease, because accountability and transparency are words that we live by. 

Nearly 75% of our funding comes from individuals like you, who see the devastating toll this disease is taking on our communities, and want to see big changes in the status quo.
