“I am so grateful that Brehon was there for me!  Staying there helped me decide to keep my child.  I had a job, but didn’t think I would be able to care for a child.  At Brehon House I saw other moms going through similar challenges.  Brehon gave me everything that I needed including nutrition class, a breastfeeding consultant, and a worker to answer all my questions about becoming a new mom.  I used my time at Brehon House to save money so I could later pay for my own apartment.   I also continued to finish my classes at Tallahassee Community College.  I am so thankful to have found Brehon because the program helped me so much.  Thanks to Brehon I’m the proud mother of a terrific little boy.  I have my own place and have finished my last classes.  I’d recommend Brehon to anyone who is pregnant and needs a place to live until they get back on their feet.  Thank you very much, Brehon!” – Casey

Brehon Family Services, Inc. is a local non-profit agency celebrating 37 years of child abuse prevention services in Tallahassee and the Big Bend area.  Brehon House is the only shelter in the Big Bend area providing services specific to homeless, pregnant women and their infants. 

Brehon also provides in-home support and parent education to hundreds of families in Gadsden, Leon, Madison and Taylor counties. Our Healthy Families Gadsden/Leon program has received the coveted “2015 Certificate of Excellence” from Healthy Families Florida. This year Brehon was nominated Nonprofit of the Year with the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.

            We are proud of the success of our prevention programs that saved the community over $20 million in cost avoidance last year!   Last year over 1,500 people received services and resource information for shelter, family support, household goods, baby items, clothing and education.
