Brewton Council of the Arts

The Brewton Council of the Arts has been dedicated to supporting the arts in Escambia County for over thirty-five years. The council brings professional artists in theatre, dance, and music to the Brewton area in an effort to provide quality entertainment and cultural opportunities for our community. In addition to our public Performance Series we have developed the Arts for Youth program.

The Arts for Youth program brings live theatre and music to area school children through the school systems during their school day. This program reaches children from preschool age through high school. Working with the city and county school systems, the Arts for Youth program insures that all children have an opportunity to be exposed to the arts, not just the children who are fortunate enough to have parents who recognize the importance of fine arts in their children’s overall education. This program reaches over 3200 children each year.

Each year the Brewton Council of the Arts sponsors a county wide art show as part of our Arts for Youth program for area students. The artwork is displayed at the YMCA and the Brewton Public Library. The work is judged by local artists and awards presented.

The Brewton Council of the Arts is a strong partner with our community. We decorate the park and hospital at Christmas, college scholarships have been awarded and we work with our schools to meet their individual needs.
