Bridge of hope seeks to end and prevent homelessness for women and children with the help of trained mentoring groups from within congregations.

Our goal is to exemplify Christ's love and to promote physical, emotional, social and spiritual wholeness.

Single mothers obtain:

• growth and wholeness

 

Did you know that in Centre County, over 300 women and children were served by local shelters in 2008-2009?

Bridge of Hope Centre County is a Christian non-profit, an affiliate of a national organization, whose mission is to end and prevent homelessness in our community...one church and one family at a time. The program uses a 3-way partnership between the family, a professional case manager, and a trained mentoring group from a local church.

As of March, 2010, we have families working with mentoring groups from University Mennonite Church and State College Presbyterian Church in State College. A group from Good Shepherd Catholic Church is "in the wings" waiting for their chance to work with a family.

The mentors form a support system (something many families don't have these days), offering help and encouragement for enough time (12-18 months) for the moms to get themselves grounded, and fully employed with permanent housing. Nationally, the success rate for Bridge of Hope families is 80%.
