Autism is a complex, lifelong disorder that affects 1 in 68 children. When a child is diagnosed with autism, the entire family is affected. Life can be incredibly difficult for these children and their families. Autism often creates a barrier between the child and the rest of the world and how easily that barrier can be overcome varies based on how affected the child is by autism.

Bridgeway House opened in 2002 to bridge the gap of services and create options for children with autism and their families in Lane County, Oregon. We offer innovative programs developed in direct response to the needs of our community that help this diverse group of children meet the challenges of autism. Our ultimate goal is to help children with autism lead the most independent and healthy lives they can. Our efforts toward this goal don’t just benefit the children, but also their families and our entire community.

Our services include therapies, social skills groups, summer camps, parent skills groups, an annual theatre production, a private school, game nights for teens, family social events, and even special haircut opportunities that accommodate for the sensory issues that often accompany autism. We provide scholarships for all our programs so they are accessible to families from all walks of life because raising a child with autism can be very expensive.

Our primary service area is Lane County, Oregon, but families from nearby counties sometimes travel to us if there are no similar services in their area. For more information, call 541.345.0805 or visit www.bridgewayhouse.org.
