Brooklyn Book Festival

A nonprofit organization

Your gift helps keep the Festival free and accessible to all!

The Brooklyn Book Festival was founded in 2006 to address the need for a free, major literary event that embraced the diverse constituencies of New York City. Today, BKBF stands as the largest annual literary event in New York City and in the Northeast, welcoming more than 35,000 people each year. It is NYC’s own festival with its home in Brooklyn, taking place over nine days each September and includes a Virtual Festival Day, citywide Bookend events, a celebratory Children’s Day, and BKBF’s flagship Festival Day and Literary Marketplace in Downtown Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Book Festival is known for fostering creative dialogue among authors and to provide readers of all ages a premier festival that gives them access to national and international emerging and iconic writers, thought-provoking author discussions, and publishers who are nurturing the next generation of literary talent. When BKBF was founded, the credo "hip, smart, diverse, and inclusive" guided our programming and defined the spirit of the Festival. Those words are part of the organization's mission statement and guide us each year in creating a festival that is forward thinking and inclusive.

All contributions to our small but mighty non-profit are meaningful and appreciated as we begin to plan for next year. Your donation directly helps us bring free, accessible, and inspiring literary programs to all five boroughs of NYC – and beyond.

Thank you in advance for supporting the Brooklyn Book Festival. Together, let’s keep the love for books and storytelling alive and strong!
