Connecting People and Nature

Buck Creek Sanctuary is a 58-acre nature, wildlife, and human sanctuary located in Elizabeth, Indiana.  Our mission is to create a sacred space where plants, animals, and humans can interact and heal themselves and each other.

We aim to educate youth and the general public about the natural world, the vulnerability of nature, the medicinal plants we need to survive and heal, and to re-engage children and adults in nature to both give them access to the healing space of the forest and the knowledge to use her gifts to heal themselves and the world around them.  People who come to Buck Creek Sanctuary experience deep healing by honoring the earth as being alive, and by realizing that we are a part of nature and not separate from it.

Buck Creek Sanctuary offers forest bathing, foraging workshops, native plant education hikes and community-building events at no cost to participants, so the gifts of the forest are available to all.  Your donation will allow us to expand our programming to reach more people.   Our plans for the coming year include:

$1500-Adding composting toilets and outdoor showers for the comfort of out guests

$3000-An outdoor kitchen to help build community

$3000-A used mower to replace our recently-deceased John Deere

$1000-Summer kids' nature camp

$750-Support for local artists projects onsite

$750-Scholarships for events and gatherings

If you love nature; if you believe in the importance of saving our native and medicinal plants; if you believe in the healing power of nature; if you believe in community; then please support our mission by donating today.  We welcome your support, and we hope you will visit us soon!
