Services to Promote Healing

As professionals and concerned citizens, we strive to provide competent, caring treatment, education, and advocacy services to Kentucky's most at-risk kids. Our campus communities are dedicated to serving children, youth and families as they work to overcome a variety of life crises, including chronic and severe abuse and neglect. Here they will know that they are someplace safe, different, and special.

Our family-centered approach to care means that the children, youth and families we serve receive the highest quality trauma-sensitive services available addressing psychiatric, foster care and adoption, and family preservation and reunification needs. We work within and beyond the Agency, to provide a sanctuary of health, healing and hope.

Buckhorn Children & Family Services is known for taking on the toughest kids, building a personalized program that works for each one, and sticking with them all the way through the treatment process. Through our system of evidenced-based, trauma-informed care, the staff at BCFS assists the child/youth and families in rebuilding their lives. At BCFS, we are dedicated to providing our clients the very best treatment, education, and services that are child-centered, family-focused, and community-based.

With over 100 years of existence, we have demonstrated our care and commitment to the children, youth and families of Kentucky.

With over 100 years of successes, we have realized the differences we make in the lives of those whom we touch.

The Buckhorn Journey

Over 100 years ago, the Buckhorn story began with a missionary riding on a mule, community residents donating land and a 140 hours of service and churches who gave of their financial resources to build a facility that ministered to the needs of the people of Appalachia Kentucky.

A century later, the Buckhorn Journey continues. The method of travel has changed, community residents still volunteer and financial support from churches, groups and individuals continues to fuel the forward movement as BCFS continues to minister to at-risk children, youth and families across Kentucky.
