Build Missouri Health

Build Missouri Health is a non-profit organization fostering, amplifying, and co-creating community-led innovations that will result in health equity for Missourians.  Our mission is to actively support and enhance community-led innovations through strategic partnerships, aiming to bring about radical changes in systems that ultimately lead to the creation of equitable health outcomes.

We believe that all Missourians deserve to live, work, go to school, and enjoy life in environments–whether built or natural–that allow them to be as healthy as possible. We also understand that some Missourians face structural obstacles that keep them from being as healthy as possible, and they need unique or additional support to live their healthiest lives. 

Build Missouri Health's areas of focus are:
(1) Health care workforce development, where we envision a Missouri that has a health care workforce that operates beyond the hospitals and clinics, is diverse, and prepared for the health care system of the 22nd century;
(2) Healthy and affordable housing, where we envision a Missouri that has sufficient and quality affordable housing for all, resulting in a decrease in health inequities; and
(3) Climate and health, where we envision policies, practices and resources are put into place to keep residents healthy despite increased weather events due to climate change, resulting in a more resilient Missouri.

As a start-up nonprofit, we bring new energy and a new health equity perspective to the great work that has been going on in our state for decades. During our first years we have been listening to partners, leaders and communities, and we are connecting the dots between what Missouri needs and the role we can play. Our vision of a healthy Missouri is clear, and our approach and tools are evolving as we uncover the needs of our partners and communities. 

One approach already in place is fiscal sponsorship, which allows organizations or projects to accept charitable contributions (that are tax-deductible for donors) through our 501(c)3 status. With two projects already in place, we are using fiscal sponsorship as a way to catalyze innovations and collaborative efforts by freeing up organizations' time spent on administrative needs so they can focus on the work of systems change. 

Your donations will help us:

1. Hire new staff to help us develop and implement programs and grow our fiscal sponsorship program.
2. Support new programs already ready to launch, including a youth climate leaders cohort.
3. Secure general operating revenue to go towards overall management and growth of the organization.
