We at BBI know the solutions and practices that must work together to create and maintain a home, school, or office that supports rather than imperils the wellbeing of its occupants. While we fully support the Green & Sustainable cause, we urge people to Go Beyond Green ™, by providing them with the information they need create safe, healthy havens in a toxic, electromagnetic world. We show them how and why to go beyond reducing their carbon footprint, go beyond protecting our delicate planetary ecology, to ensuring that a natural healthy harmony exists between the built (man-made) and the natural environments.

The US Environmental Protection Agency ranks indoor environments (homes, schools, offices, and even hospitals) as one of the top 5 risks to human health we face today andy, and estimates that indoor air is 6 to 10 times more polluted than outdoor urban air. Scary, but our organizational mission is not and never has been to scare; we are and always have been all about being proactive. For 26 years, as a nonprofit environmental education organization, we have led the way (as a lone voice in the desert, in our early years) in providing free-to-the-public answers and solutions for helping ensure that built environments everywhere support the health and wellbeing of people everywhere.

Please help us raise the funds to create the targeted printed materials and digital experiences that will ensure that our message and mission get maximum exposure to all attendees, and to send our highly qualified team of Certified Professional Building Biologists to man our booth and exhibit at conferences and other events sponsored by like-minded organizations.

About the Building Biology Institute (BBI):

We at IBE believe that human health is intrinsically linked to the materials in our homes and commercial buildings, as well as to the air, water, and electromagnetic radiation exposure in our indoor environments. And we are committed to building a global village of awareness that natural healthy living spaces not only promote human health, but also generate a positive impact on the survival of this planet. As a 501(3)(3) nonprofit environmental education organization, our educational reach attracts over 6,000 unique visitors a month to our website: environmentally conscious visitors from 86 nations (source: Google Analytics, December 2022).

We build on our commitment by providing public education programs, professional training programs and certification tracks, public and professional membership, testing protocols, healthy building standards, advocacy, networking and information sharing across the world. As well, we have trained and certified environmental consultants and practitioners who act as boots on the ground in 16 nations. Our course and seminar curriculum, developed and taught by renowned experts in the field, stress the vital need to bring human health and the built environment into holistic harmony, and are even more relevant today than in 1987 when BBI was founded by architect Helmut Ziehe.

About our Executive Director (BBI), Michael Conn:

Michael has been IBE's executive director for the past four years. During that time, we have seen traffic to our website increase by 5-fold; attendance at our several annual 5-day seminars has doubled; attendance at our semi-annual conferences has increased by 40%; and our website now provides more free to the public information – videos, position papers, short courses, articles, and links to like-minded non-governmental and governmental organizations – than ever before in our history. Michael's thirty years in the international advertising industry before joining BBI gives him extensive production and event planning experience, and direct access to production professionals and visual artists for both their wisdom and experience and their personal involvement in designing our conference exhibit. Being a published author, and twice a finalist for the William Faulkner Short Fiction Prize, Michael is uniquely prepared to assist in ensuring that the messaging in our exhibit will be succinct, informative, and an entertaining educational experience.
