Our Mission is to educate and inspire communities to reduce burn injuries and empower those affected by burn trauma.

Burn Survivor Services

Camp Beyond the Scars–Inspiring week-long summer camp for burn injured children that helps build coping skills and self-esteem in a nurturing environment.

Family Retreat–One-day getaway that allows the whole family to heal together from a burn injury.

Adult and Caregiver Retreat–One-day peer based support program for adult burn survivors and their caregivers to provide emotional encouragement. The retreat is offered several times a year.

Young Adult Retreat–One-day peer based support program for  young adult burn survivors ages 18-25.

Emergency Needs–Provides immediate assistance to low-income families of burn survivors while their loved ones are being treated at the UC San Diego Health Regional Burn Center.

Special Assistance Fund–Dedicated to providing burn survivors with the resources they need to thrive. Includes scholarships, attending peer based conferences, special physical and medical treatments not covered by insurance, etc. 

Monthly Support Sessions–Empowering and safe environment for adult burn survivors and caregivers to express challenges and triumphs of living with their injury. 

Burn Survivor Outings–Unites the burn survivor community through positive free outings such as a Padres game or a trip to the San Diego County Fair.   

Fire and Burn Prevention Programs

Fire Safe Kids–School based program for grades K-6 that teaches important fire safety messages. 

Fire Safe Seniors–Free smoke alarm installations for homeowners over 62 years of age in San Diego and Imperial Counties.

Safe from Scalds–Community education program on scald prevention. Scalds are the number one type of burns in children 0-5.

Youth Firesetter Intervention Program–Assessment and educational intervention for youth exploring firesetting.
