Butler County Association for the Blind

A nonprofit organization

The Blind Association's mission is to raise awareness about blindness and provide services to educate and empower individuals with visual impairments to live indpendent and enriched lives. Help indivdiuals of all ages prevent, prepare for, and manage blindness and visual impairments.

Every year thousands of individuals, many of them children, needlessly suffer from preventable and treatable forms of vision loss. Due to these alarming statistics, education and awareness represent a significant aspect of the Blind Association's mission. We focus our work in the community on sharing information regarding vision health, safety, and proper eye care. In addition, we provide sensitivity training about various visual impairments and blindness to help eliminate stigmas and create a better understanding of accessiblity for visually impaired. Vision screenings are provided free in the community for adults and children. These vision screening address the problem that young children often do not know that the way they see the world is not the way everyone sees it. The result is that far too many vision problems remain undetected in children without vision screenings. Without early treatment, vision conditions can lead to permanent vision loss and learning difficulties
