A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Children's Center is to provide a variety of children's programs and quality services designed to meet the comprehensive needs of families.

PURPOSE AND MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION

For the past forty-two (42) years, Butler County Children's Center, Inc. has followed its mission to provide a variety of children's programs and quality services designed to meet the comprehensive needs of families. The Vision of Butler County Children's Center, Inc. is to be the leading provider of children's programs and quality services for families. As a United Way agency, the Children's Center has become the most comprehensive provider of childcare services in Butler County.

As part of its Mission, the Center staff and its volunteer board must constantly assess the childcare needs of the community and develop programs which meet those needs. This process often involves collaboration with private, government and other non-profit groups such as the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, Arin Intermediate Unit 28, Center for Community Resources (CCR), Lifesteps, Slippery Rock University Child Care Center, Kids Count II, WIC Program, Foster Grandparent Program, Senior Service America, Inc., Irene Stacy Mental Health Center, Family Behavioral Resources, Family First Resource Center, 4-H clubs and local school districts, colleges and universities.

As the leading provider of children's programs and quality services to families throughout Butler County, we are able to meet our mission by the programs that we provide:
• CHILD CARE (Birth - 12 Years)
• HEAD START (3 - 5 Years)
• EARLY HEAD START (Birth - 3 years)
• PRIVATE KINDERGARTEN
• PRE-K COUNTS (3 - 5 Years)
• CHILD CARE INFORMATION SERVICES (CCIS)

The Children's Center continues to grow and expand to meet the needs of the Butler Community. The purchase of our new building, Slippery Rock School District's former Franklin Township Elementary School located at 139 Rieger Road in Butler provides needed space for children, families and an administrative office. We continue to share this building with the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV's Preschool Early Intervention Program, which provides services for children with disabilities.

The Butler County Children's Center, Inc. celebrated our 40th Anniversary in November 2013. We are proud of the progress over the years and are very excited about what the future will bring.
