A child-friendly location designed to reduce trauma to child victims and their non-offending caregivers while providing support and coordination efforts to members of the multidisciplinary investigative team. By providing higher rates of coordinated investigations, child advocacy centers (CAC) have been shown to save an average of $1,000 per investigation. CACs hold offenders accountable, as coordinated investigations increase successful prosecution rates. CACs also help child victims heal by minimizing the trauma they experience throughout the investigative process, increased information sharing amongst investigators and coordinated service referrals to quality providers throughout our community.
Since 2014, Butler County Alliance for Children has provided services to 394 child victims, their non-offending caregivers and their assigned investigative team. Through collaborative efforts, with members of Butler County's multidisciplinary team, BCAC has assisted in minimizing the duplication of investigative efforts child victims are exposed to while increasing prosecution rates of those committing crimes against children. Community prevention and educational programs have been offered as a means of empowering Butler County families to protect their children and minimize the likelihood of children becoming victims of child abuse; specifically child sexual abuse.
