Losing one’s vision is an especially challenging adjustment for adults. Many people who are blind or visually impaired want to work, but if unable to find suitable employment, navigate public transportation, or complete tasks of daily living, individuals often live an isolated existence and are unable to contribute to the local economy. These individuals must find new ways to accomplish even the simplest tasks and training must be provided to actively seek employment opportunities.

To address these challenges, The Bosma Visionary Opportunities Foundation supports rehabilitation and employment placement services for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Rehabilitation Services are designed to ensure individuals can function in their communities, even after vision loss. This level of independence reduces reliance on government assistance and often eliminates or significantly delays the need for costly residential alternatives, such as assisted living facilities and group homes.

The Bosma Visionary Opportunities Foundation is a Type-1 Supporting Organization that was created to raise funds for rehabilitation and employment programs offered by Bosma Enterprises. Originally founded by the State of Indiana as the Board of Industrial Aid for the Blind in 1915, Bosma Enterprises has been serving Indiana for nearly 100 years, helping people who are blind or visually impaired to achieve their individual employment, economic, social, and self determination goals.
