C Alley Cats is a nonprofit cat rescue organization specializing in community cats and medically challenged cats. We could be called a refuge of last resort because we accept cats who would be euthanized if surrendered to a public animal shelter. We are a no-kill facility; any cat coming to us will remain with us until they are adopted, no matter how long that takes.
Our programs:
Trap Neuter Return (TNR) is designed to help people and communities get control of the feral population by eliminating new litters of kittens. The adult cats are trapped, neutered, vaccinated and returned to live out their lives in their colony. As no new kittens are born, the population stabilizes and then declines over time. During TNR any stray / adoptable cats and feral kittens young enough to socialize are placed in foster care until they can be adopted. This creates an immediate reduction in community cat populations. After the TNR is complete, a caregiver is assigned to help manage the colony. Their role is to supply food, water, and shelter, to monitor the cats for health issues and to alert us to any new cats arriving into the area so they can be TNR’ed before they breed. |
The TNR voucher program is in partnership with several veterinary clinics and provides for low cost neutering / spaying for community cats. The voucher costs $60 and is available for use by individuals and groups looking to fix the feral and stray cats in their neighborhood. The voucher is redeemable for one spay / neuter surgery and one rabies vaccine. They are for use with community cats only as all cats are ear-tipped and tattooed, the universal sign that a community cat has been neutered or spayed. Vouchers can be purchased from our office. |
We sponsor an annual Cat-a-thon in the fall to construct shelters for community cats. Volunteers assist in the construction of community cat shelters to be donated to colonies in need. Individuals and groups can sponsor a shelter or can purchase a shelter for their own use. The cost is $25 to cover materials (Large Rubbermaid bin, insulation boards and straw). |
We respond to emergency calls to rescue cats from harmful situations such as abandonment, orphaned kittens, and life and death emergencies. |
Periodically during the year, we provide free training seminars on topics such as community cats, TNR, trapping techniques, managing a feral colony, shelter construction, cat behavior modification, and how to manage medical conditions in your pet. Please contact our office to schedule a presentation to your group, business or school. |
We provide an emergency food pantry to assist families and colony caregivers in times of financial difficulty. To donate food to our pantry or to apply for assistance please contact our office. You can also donate food during our pet food drive campaigns. |
Our Adopt-a-bed and Sponsor a Cat programs allows individuals or businesses to make a monthly donation to help cover the cost of the basic needs and medical care of the cats in foster care. These donors help to fund the expensive vet care for our special needs cats as well as the routine care of our adoptable kittens. |
Our adoption program is 100% foster-based. We work with trained volunteers to socialize feral kittens, and any friendly adult cats trapped during our TNR projects, until they can be adopted. We also work with medically challenged cats to help get their medical condition stabilized and to train new adopters or current owners to be able to manage the medical condition at home. |
Foster volunteers open their hearts and homes to cats and kittens in need. We could not help all of the cats without the dedication of these foster parents. We provide all of the needed supplies and medical care. The foster parent provides the space and lots of love. If you would like to foster, please call our office. |
