Burleson County CERT

Our mission is to provide emergency preparedness training and information to our community, to support First Responders, provide leadership and coordination of volunteers, and provide post-emergency assistance to victims. We promote resiliency through preparedness, response, and recovery by incorporating best practices and sharing resources to empower trained volunteers in our community.

Our group has been very busy since the last BVG. We were able to secure a trailer for equipment and deployments, thanks to our donations from last year's BVG. Our group of more than 20 individuals from around the county have served at several different fires, providing firefighter rehab to our local volunteer firemen. Because our volunteer fire departments have limited members to help, we have shown up with drinks, food, cooling stations, first aid care, and more. We have been trained and are ready to assist in whatever is needed by our local law ,fire departments, and EMS services . We have been asked by several organizations to provide a first aid station to the public attending events such as Caldwell Summer Concert Series, Kolache Krunch Fun Run, and Back to School Blast. While we are standing by with first aid available, we also handout brochures and talk to the public about CERT

We were asked by DPS, Caldwell Police, and Burleson County Sheriff's Department to provide traffic control and parking assistance for the recent funeral of Burleson County Sheriff, Gene Hermes, so that their officers could attend the funeral. They were very appreciative of our help.

We were recently called on by the Department of Emergency Management at RELLIS Campus in College Station to assist in tearing down several large, mobile tents that were set up for an event and had to come down on short notice.
