Communities In Schools of the Gulf South

The mission of Communities In Schools (CIS) Gulf South is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Our name says it all - we bring community resources directly into schools. CIS Gulf South connects over 14,000 students in grades K-12 with the essential resources they need to attend school prepared and ready to engage in learning. We place highly qualified Site Coordinators (Counselors and Social Workers) directly in public schools to run our evidenced-based model of Integrated Student Support. We collaborate with parents, educators, community-based organizations, school and district leaders to help our students overcome obstacles and removes roadblocks, providing students with the resources, supports and opportunities they need to thrive. Together, we can build a powerful change movement committed to shaping an equitable path to education for future generations.
