The Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home aims to keep kids safe and families together. We work tirelessly to help youth in foster care and single parent families heal from trauma and experience safety, love and hope through residential programs, counseling and supportive services.
Our programs include: Denton County's only 24/7 emergency shelter for CPS placement, adolescent care services, a longer-term foster care placement option focused of life skills and permanency planning, and one the state's only less restrictive programs for teens with behavior health diagnoses who require the structure and support of a treatment services program. We work tirelessly to create a safe, supportive and trauma-informed environment for residents to heal, discover their strengths and potential. Youth in foster care, particularly those between the ages of 10-17, who we most commonly serve, face staggeringly negative outcomes without support. Statistically, youth who grow up in child welfare are nine time more likely to commit a crime, 25 time likely to get pregnant as a teenager, and there is a 30% chance they will continue the cycle of abuse against their own children.
But, our collaborative approach empower and equips residents to see beyond their past circumstances and prepare for the future.
Our Family Residential Program focuses on family preservation and success. That program combines housing and income support with job and education support and individualized financial coaching to stabilize families and help single parents overcome past barriers like poverty and family violence and learn how to thrive.
It takes more than our expert staff to support children and families in need. It takes an entire community. Through community education, a vibrant volunteer program, corporate engagement and individual support, CPCH strives to help residents understand that they are not alone. When you give, you help us stand up for and side-by-side with youth and families when they need us most.
Your support ensures our interdisciplinary team can customize our research-based treatment strategies and get creative to ensure residents get exactly what they need to move forward. Our collaborative approach is at the heart of our mission every day. We need resources we can put toward our greatest needs as they arise and evolve.
With your help, we aim to break the cycles of abuse, neglect, trauma and poverty for those we serve.
