Student-Led Peer Mediation (SLPM), one of our shining programs, training high school aged youth to act as neutral mediators. Teens in conflict work with a trained student mediator to uncover the root causes of their disputes and together decide on fair ways of resolving conflict. This multifaceted program makes conflict resolution training accessible and free to participating students through partnering with local schools and trainings through local libraries. One of our partner schools has even given the program a dedicated room in their school. Please check out peermediation.net for more information and to read our blog and see the ways in which this program is making a positive impact on our community.
Research from the U.S. Department of Education tells us that youth at participating schools have seen a 90% reduction in assaults and a 73% reduction in expulsions, along with reductions in disciplinary actions and initial drug use. This Give STL Day we are raising the funds to create a Problem-Solving Toolkit for Teens. Earlier this year, we received funding to expand our services beyond St. Louis City. As a first step in this Problem-Solving Toolkit, we plan to make the free Peer Mediation trainings currently happening for St. Louis City youth available in St. Louis County.
CRCSTL is dedicated to helping the St. Louis community resolve conflicts and disputes more peacefully. Our services are free, confidential, and a safe space to be heard. Mediation turns adversaries into collaborators, working together to find solutions. We are an organization dedicated to servicing the community and we take the stewardship of our funding seriously. Our most recent audit found that 86% of funds were spent on programming with the remaining 14% spent on administrative costs.
Our Conflict Coaching training provides an opportunity for individuals to explore options for current and future conflicts with an emphasis on personal empowerment and informed communication. Alongside our Student-Led Peer Mediation and Conflict Coaching programming, we also offer a wide array of services for the community at large including landlord-tenant or neighbor-to-neighbor mediations, partnering with neighborhood associations, and a suite of workplace solutions. Conflict Resolution Center-St. Louis is Where Conflicts Find Solutions.
