California Family Life Center

California Family Life Center's (CFLC) mission is is to provide safety, comfort and healing to children suffering abuse and abandonment; to teach love and trust; to instill self-esteem, values and hope for the future; and in so doing, assist children trapped in hopelessness and despair become compassionate and contributing members of the community.

Our mission statement describes our purpose but the following quotes tell us what CFLC really means to an abused child or troubled youth.  Drug-exposed newborns, abused children, homeless youth and displaced, disconnected kids of all ages are finding people like family in our Foster Homes, Youth Opportunity Centers, Youth Homes, and Kin Care Services.

Asked what she liked best about the Empower Youth Opportunity Center a recent participant responded , "Feeling like a family member while receiving help."

A former foster parent wrote recently:  "We did foster care through you guys and adopted 3 CFLC kids several years ago. I can't imagine our lives without our kids. They are doing great!"

A statement shared by a Kin Care family: "You always have helped make things easier for any challenges that come our way; you are like the band aid that holds us together!"

 "Thank you for never giving up on me. I know I may be tough to work with but you guys never gave up on me.: - 22 year old @LIKE youth, GED graduate and employed full time, reporting back to his Life Coach.

A former client described the unique partnership we enjoy with our youth in these words:  "I am very appreciative for all you CFLC staff. I became successful on my own, but through your guidance."

Each of our programs require additional resources to ensure that every CFLC child and youth has the opportunity to succeed. Some of these needs are:

Career & Education Pathway Needs:  Interview and work clothing, testing, tuition, books, housing deposits and utilities, medical, dental, food, diapers.

Kin Care Needs: Counseling, respite care, tutoring, clothing, diapers, beds, appliances, food, unfunded medical.

Youth Homes & Foster Needs:  Rites of Passage (driver training, licenses, prom, yearbook, graduation, summer and after school events), sports, recreation, music, outings, pets, backpacks, supplies, inspiration, birthdays, 401 Stay.

Mental Health: Counseling, Trauma-Informed Care, Evaluation Services, Crisis Intervention, Rehabilitation, Case Management.

Chaplaincy: Welcome bags, Bible studies, blessing breakfasts, camps, outings, events, crisis counseling and spiritual guidance.
