Mission

The mission of CAMARADA is to enrich the San Diego community and beyond by presenting phenomenal chamber music concerts, while engaging diverse audiences through visionary and educational programming, featuring living composers, and commissioning new music. 

History

Camarada was established in 1994, and has grown from a few concerts a year to a thriving non-profit performing over 25 concerts annually to audiences of all sizes, up to 450 per concert.  We serve over 4,700 people annually: 3,000 in-person and 1,700 online subscribers.  We partner with non-profit venues and have an extensive outreach program, with both local and visiting guest artists. 

Background

Camarada provides a broad musical repertoire including fresh interpretations of familiar classics, rediscovered gems, and new commissioned works of art; a rich and personal artistic experience by combining music with other art forms including dance, visual art, poetry and verse; and performances of the highest quality for audiences of all ages and levels of musical sophistication, cultivating a new broad-based community of music lovers. Our concert programs range from duets to a ten-person ensemble in the classical, tango, and jazz styles. Venues include performing arts centers, museums, art galleries, private homes, churches, libraries, community centers, retirement homes, and schools to impact a large and diverse audience.    

Non-Profit Partners

Camarada serves as Artists-in-Residence at Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park; as community partners with UC San Diego @ Park & Market, the university’s new center located in East Village, downtown San Diego; as collaborative art presenters at Bread & Salt, Barrio Logan; and, as jazz, tango and classical concert  presenters in the Baker-Baum Concert Hall at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, La Jolla.
