Percy R. Johnson Burn Foundation

A nonprofit organization

The Percy Johnson Burn Foundation was established in 1985 in honor of Shreveport Firefighter Percy Johnson who died in the line of duty. His partner James Patrick "Pat" Johnson who sustained burns over 90% in the same explosion, co founded  the Percy Johnson Burn Foundation which has served more than 15,000 burn patients and their families.

Camp I'm Still Me was founded in 1992 by the Percy Johnson Burn Foundation and is held annually.  Camp I'm Still Me is held in Scottsville, Texas every June at the Scottsville Camp and Conference Center.  The campers enjoy camp games, fishing, swimming, bowling, crafts and much more.

Our camp accepts children ages 5 to 17 who have sustained a burn injury.  We offer this camp to children from all over the state of Louisiana. This week long camp experience is 100% free made possible by donations. As our campers age they will become junior counselors.

Campers are housed in air-conditioned cabins and the camper to counselor ratio is 3:1.  Our camp is staffed by members of the Burn Care Team, teachers, firefighters and adult burn survivors.

Camp I'm Still Me continues to instill hope in burn -injured children, empowers them to embrace their journey and to thrive in the face of adversity.

The Foundation also owns a small respite house near Ochsner LSU in which family members of patients treated in the burn unit can stay free of charge. This house is located within walking distance and can be seen from the medical center..
