Founded in Reno in 1990 as a grassroots effort to improve the health of local residents through recycled medical equipment, CARE Chest now provides six programs:

  • Medical Equipment and Supplies
  • Prescription Assistance
  • Diabetic Supplies
  • Medical Nutrition
  • Independent Living and CARE Loan
  • Wellness Education

CARE Chest has grown into a respected multi-service non-profit agency that addresses a range of unmet medical needs among low-income, uninsured and underinsured Northern Nevadans.  We believe in empowering individuals to become independent and self-sufficient by providing free, last-resort access to diabetic testing supplies, medical equipment, emergency medications and more, preventing expensive secondary conditions, long-term health damage and costly emergency room visits caused by lack of timely initial care (a benefit to taxpayers as well).

Every day we meet families who have experienced what most would consider their worst nightmare: sudden job losses, unexpected illnesses, terrible accidents.  We're reminded daily that in an instant, a person can lose it all--including their and their family's financial security.

Through tangible medical relief for local children, adults, seniors and people with disabilities, CARE Chest directly improves the quality of life for people in our community, while helping to sustain the fluidity of the local economy and keep people healthy, working, in school and independent in their own homes.
