The Z Project
$280 Raised
I’m often asked what schools do with the produce they grow in their gardens. Many sell it to families to fund the garden program. Often, school garden educators use it to conduct taste tests and cooking activities with their students. It’s far less common to share their harvests with school lunch.
For the first time ever, school gardens will grow veggies for the cafeteria! In partnership with The School Garden Doctor and Napa Valley CanDo, members of the Napa Valley School Garden Network are growing a Garden-to-Cafeteria program.
The pilot, dubbed The Z Project, involves school and community gardens in growing, harvesting, and selling zucchini/summer squash to Napa’s Operative for School food Health (NOSH), the self-operating food service program in NVUSD.
